Indications:
Anxiety, Depression, Panic disorder, Psychosomatic disorder

Dosage:
Anxiety Initial Max
For Adult Patient 0.25-0.5mg 4mg/day in divided doses
For Elderly patient 0.25- 0.75 mg
Depression:
0.5-4.5mg/day in divided doses.
Panic Disorder:
0.5-10mg/day in divided doses.

Side Effects:
Drowsiness, Coordination Disturbances and Blurred Vision Are Occasional
The Side Effect Usually Reported Are Over Sedation, Atazia or Impairment of Coordination, Light Headache, Fatigue and Slurred Speech

Precautions:
Drug should be used with caution in patients who have prone to drug abuse (alcoholics and drug addicts).Dosage should not be decreased very rapidly or discontinued abruptly as this may cause withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms are also observed in patients who have been receiving Alprazolam in higher doses and for longer duration. In patients with panic disorder, treatment should be given with caution keeping in view that such patient are more prone to suicidal attempts. Drug should also be used with care in patients, with hepatic and renal impairment. Periodic blood counts, LFTs and renal function tests are recommended for patient on long term therapy. Like other benzodiazepines. Use of Neuxam (alprazolam) may cause drowsiness and impair performance; therefore patients should not drive or operate machinery while on Neuxam. Use of Neuxam use in children should be avoided due to unestablished efficacy and safety. Pregnancy and Lactation: like other benzodiazepines. Neuxam should not be given to pregnant women especially in there first trimester, as there is a risk of congenital abnormalities in such cases.
